THE BASICS...
It all started in late 1990. This particular car was built by Honda Motor Co. in Japan. It's a 1991 CRX Si in Tahitian Green with the 1.6 liter SOHC D16A engine. As you may know, the Si is the top of the line model, which by 1991 was so well equipped that there were virtually no options. This car has gotten a few mods over the years including Carbon Fiber pedals and shift knob, 15" rims with 50 series tires, and custom audio. Back home in the very early '90s, I had a side business installing car audio and alarms. I specialized in "stealth" systems which were designed to fool B&E artists into thinking there were very few (if any) audio mods to the car. I installed a stealth system in my 'Rex (more info below) |

THE SYSTEM...(If it's 2 loud...you're 2 OLD!)
Here's a list of all the equipment in my car. I'll tell you where I managed to fit all this stuff, and how I hid it later. HEAD UNIT = Kenwood KDC9000 CD receiver (detach face with preamp outs only, and credit card size remote.) EQ = KRC1100 equalizer (This was the top of the line from Kenwood for a few years) SPEAKERS = 4 Nakamichi 6.5 coax AMPS = 2 Alpine 3500 2 ch. amps. one running parallel for highs, one bridged to run sub. SUB = HiFonics ZEUS 15" DVC SUB ENCLOSURE = Custom build with 1" thick MDF all around.
The HEAD fit into the standard DIN size opening where the factory radio had been. With a little persuasion from a Moto-Tool, and a slightly modified Scosche install kit, I located the EQ in the pocket underneath the head. The SPEAKERS fit in the standard stock locations (doors and rear panels) with the exception of the SUB, which is in it's enclosure in the trunk area, hidden by the cargo cover. The AMPS are hidden in the locked tool kit bay behind the front seats. (For this project, I not only needed persuasion from the Moto-Tool, but a Milwaukee Sawzall as well!) MORE PICS OF THE AUDIO INSTALL CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTO ALBUM
